OM Digital Solutions CEO becomes principal shareholder

Changes are afoot in the management of OM Digital Solutions, the successor of Olympus cameras. Last week, the company announced a “change in its shareholder structure,” where its president and CEO Shigemi Sugimoto becomes the principal shareholder in the company. Simultaneously, Japan Industrial Partners, the private equity firm that bought Olympus’ camera business in 2021  announced its own change in management. It’s unclear what JIP’s role in OM Digital Solutions will be going forward.

Current JIP CEO Hidemi Moue is being replaced in that role by Shinichi Inagaki, the current executive vice president. Moue will stay on as CIO and as a managing partner, sharing the latter title with Inagaki. In addition, Katsu Harashima, current managing director, will assume the role of managing director and executive vice president.

OM Digital Solutions Corporation (Head Office: 49-3 Takakura-machi, Hachioji-shi, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shigemi Sugimoto; the “Company”) hereby announces a change in its shareholder structure, as a result of which Shigemi Sugimoto, President and CEO, has become the principal shareholder of the Company and has assumed management control.

1. Purpose of the Change in Shareholder Structure

As a result of this change, the Company will transition to a structure in which the current management team holds management control with full responsibility. This is expected to enable more agile and flexible decision-making, strengthen the Company’s management foundation, and further promote investments in technology development and business growth strategies from a medium- to long-term perspective.

2. Impact on the Company

There will be no changes to the Company’s legal entity, corporate name, location, representative, business activities, or the fundamental terms of transactions with customers and business partners as a result of this change.

The Company will continue to build on its existing business operations and pursue further business growth and enhancement of corporate value.
